Happiness Sells

People buy from other pleasant people. You need to be competent, of course, but if you're happy and positive, your energy will be attractive. People will feel compelled to be around you, listen to you, trust you—happiness sells. Just keep these three tips in mind…

  1. Smile. Smiling makes all the difference. It relaxes your nervous system and helps others feel comfortable. Don’t be creepy about it—just allow smiles to genuinely arise.
  1. Keep it positive. When you're giving an initial presentation or a pitch, speak with gratitude about what’s good and abundant; avoid negative venting and commiseration. Be someone that people want to be around. Cultivating positivity benefits your nervous system and helps you present from a position of greater authority and calm.
  1. Consider how you’re showing up. What are you wearing? Are you more at ease when standing or sitting? When you’re on a video call, are you looking at the camera? What’s the background of your shot? Do you have good posture? How is your tone of voice? These seemingly minor details matter majorly in how you feel and how you're seen.

Even if you're not feeling especially happy, find a way to dig deep, smile, speak from a place of abundance, and pay attention to the details that shape how you show up in the world. When you radiate happiness, you will attract others with ease.

Onward.
Tom
