Too Many Meetings

I hear all the time, “I’m too busy.” Why, might I ask, are you too busy for prospecting or strategic planning? Because you're attending all kinds of internal meetings.

I regularly challenge people on a few simple principles around meeting logistics and demands. For each invite you receive, ask yourself these questions:

  • Does this meeting really need me?
  • Does this meeting need to be an hour? Could it just be 30 minutes? Or even less?
  • If I have to be on the Zoom call, can I use audio only vs. being onscreen, just to retain some energy? (Zoom meetings are total energy suckers.)

Let's be extra intentional from now through the end of the year—look for a couple of meetings each week that you can decline. It’s scary to say no, but with those extra two hours a week, you can do so much—prospect, plan, rest, whatever it takes to finish the year strong and start 2023 off with a bang.

Onward.
